Fist Full of Death: Part 3

Great news! So Rhino Airsoft finally shipped out the Magpul PTS FMG9’s! I received mine yesterday from the post office. I pretty much left work 15 minutes early to get there 3 minutes after they closed and unlike Moses’ experience, the guy actually helped me. The gun comes in a pretty straight forward Magpul box and includes instructions along with some simple replacement parts.

The beauty of the instructions is that they are extremely well translated. More so common with the more expensive airsoft products, they probably have excellent support as well. Either way, everything was an easy step by step process to prep the upper receiver and fit it into place. You pretty much have to replace the selector switch and the air nozzle. For a minute there, actually, for almost an hour and a half, I was convinced that it was made incorrect because I couldn’t get the air nozzle to seat correctly in the slide and hop up. I couldn’t figure it out to save my life, I must have jumped back and forth 3 or 4 times testing both nozzles to see what was up. I used my G17 as a model and it took all of 7 seconds to realize that I had to return springs on the nozzle on the wrong side…. So when I got corrected, the FMG9 operated immediately with no issue.

I attempted to installed a Hurricane Recoil spring, but totally forgot to use the magazine that has the high flow valve with it and started having feed and short stroke problems. Once again, go Jon.

It unfolds easily into operation and has no safety whatsoever, I guess that’s because they designed it to get down to business immediately because in the quarter second it takes to go safeties off, you’ve already wasted too much time. Works for me. The handle makes it easy to have something to grab onto when you unfold it so I don’t see my self replacing it. However, It does need a light of some sort because there is a rather large gap up front. It feels sturdy and is made from a reinforced ABS plastic, I don’t see parts breaking anytime soon.

All in all, its really everything I wanted it to be. I’m looking forward to using it on the field. The only problem that I am coming across is the 50 round KWA extended mag. Because its sooo huge, the cool down period is extremely quick making those last 10 rounds really hard to squeeze off. Thats ok though, 40 rounds is still plenty! Enjoy!

Here it is in operation. Yes, I know, my backyard looks like Jurrassic Park.
