I took my Echo 1 416 and scraped the outsides. It was a plastic piece of shit anyways and didnt really care for it anymore. I took the custom gearbox and got my hands on a D-boys M4 CQB-R. It has a metal upper and lower receiver which was a characteristic that I was looking for. there also happens to be the same model sitting in our maintenance bay as well that I intend on securing as well. What ended up happening, has been more than a pain in the ass as always. I put it together with no sweat last week, but when game time came around, it was too dark to adjust my hop up. its not as accurate as I would like it to be. New bucking on the way. Next issue, is that the select fire was giving me issues. It wasn't long before the stock part actually snapped off so I had to pull the selector switch off of the Echo 1. Not a problem. It worked flawlessly, until tonight, when the select fire cam somehow stripped and will no longer push the selector plate when the switch is pushed. I'm afraid that the D-boys select fire will have the same issue so I'm going to try to track down a JG M4 Lower to see if I can get that one to work as well. We'll see what happens.
The cool thing is, I found an M4 style barrel extension so all I truly need is the 10.5 upper that I can get from work and I'll be set. The only thing that it needs is a paint job and a few other accessories and I'll have a SOPMOD M4. I would like to track down a hard case as well to add to the authenticity. This one I am excited about, now if I could only get it to work....
